Cottage, Hampnett
The brief on this project was to undertake a complete renovation of this almost derelict 18th century cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds.
The property had lain empty for a number of years and as a result, had deteriorated substantially. The internal layout rendered the cottage almost impossible for 21st century living. So a major renovation and re-design of the property was the only solution. The rear of cottage had to be demolished leaving only the front wall and the gable end.
For the inside our brief from the client was to create two bedrooms upstairs with en suite to the master, and walk in wet room, whilst downstairs was to be totally open-plan.
Our clients wanted a light-filled space which retained the period features of the property but also met their desire for a contemporary, practical interior suited to modern living.
A CONTEMPORARY, PRACTICAL INTERIOR
Stone for the redesigned build had to be taken from the original Cotswold quarry to blend in with terrace and to match the rest of the village
Inside, all steel beams and pipework had to be carefully concealed to create a clean, open space.
The décor exudes a fresh modern feel without compromising the feel of a cosy country cottage.
Our clients were delighted with the result – a period property with a modern interior – built to a high quality specification.
